Obituary for The Reverend Robert G. "Jerry" Rogers

The Reverend Robert "Jerry" G. Rogers, 83, died July 20, 2019. Born January 17, 1936 he was a native of Baton Rouge, LA and resident of Thibodaux, LA.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 9:30 AM until service time at St. John’s Episcopal Church. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 AM at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Joy LeBlanc Rogers; son, John Henry Rogers and wife Crystal; daughter, Wendy Breland and husband Michael; stepson, Corey Duplechin and wife Donna; grandchildren, J.R. Rogers, Jonah Breland; step grandchildren, Alden Duplechin, Kylie Frye; step great grandchildren, Sebastian, Lucas and Ivy; sisters in law, Retta Babin and husband Barry, Liz Dugas and husband Ronald; brothers in law, Benny LeBlanc, John W. LeBlanc and wife Susan. 
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Clarence and Henrietta Guilbeau Rogers; brother, Jack Rogers; father and mother in law, Stanley LeBlanc and Mae D. LeBlanc. 
He started his religious vocations as a Catholic priest and continued his ministries as a monk at St. Joseph's Abbey. He was later ordained as an Episcopal priest and served the communities of Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes at St. Andrew’s, St. Matthew’s and St. John’s Episcopal Churches.
In addition to his religious duties, Fr. Jerry was also a librarian for the Terrebonne Parish School Board. 
He was a humble, kind and simple man. 
For it is attested of him, "You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek."-Hebrews 7:17 
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Catherine’s Hospice, and his church family of St. John’s Episcopal Church for their care.
