Obituary for Shirley Rousseau Soignet

Shirley Rousseau Soignet, 87, died Monday, February 5, 2018, at 1:44 A.M. Born October 23, 1930, she was a native of Belle Rose and a resident of Thibodaux. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018, from 8:30 A.M. until service time at Saint Joseph Co-­-Cathedral. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 A.M. A private burial will be held at a later date. She is survived by her children Leslie Soignet Montet and husband Marcus, Lisa Soignet Pellegrin and husband Jimmy, and Kyle Soignet; grandchildren Melanie Montet Oncale and husband Ryan, Kevin Anderson, Margot Montet Dupuis and husband Brian, Katie Anderson, Kristin Anderson Amico and husband Jonathan, and Marc Cameron Montet and wife Maria; great grandchildren Luke, Claire, and Brooke Anderson, Hudson and Harrison Oncale, Molly and Matthew Montet, Piper, Parker, and Presley Amico. She is preceded in death by her husband Lester Joseph Soignet; parents Herbert Adolph and Cecile Aleman Rousseau; son Kenneth James Soignet; and siblings Katherine Rousseau Ganier, Kenneth "Ray" Rousseau, Sidney Rousseau, Cecil Rousseau, Faye Rousseau Naquin. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed journaling, painting portraits, and studying genealogy. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Co-­- Cathedral, and she volunteered her time at St. Joseph Catholic Elementary library and as an active member of the E.D. White Mothers’ Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to E.D. White Catholic High School. The family would like to thank the staff of Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, especially Dr. James Soignet.
