Obituary for Pauline Callahan Edwards

Pauline (Callahan) Edwards, 82, of South Glastonbury, beloved wife of Robert “Bob” Edwards, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2023. Pauline was born June 15, 1941, in Thibodaux, LA to the late Wallace Paul and Mae Iolin (LeBlanc) Callahan. Pauline received her Bachelor's at Nicholls University, LA, her Master's at Louisiana State University and her 6th year Certificate from Central Connecticut State University. During her teaching career, Pauline taught in Louisiana, Texas, and New York before moving to Connecticut. In Connecticut, she taught part time at Manchester Community College, Morse School of Business and Hartford College for Women before ultimately settling at Cromwell High School, where she taught for 26 years. She did spend one year in Europe teaching at the Vicenza American High School in Vicenza, Italy. While teaching in Vicenza, she met Robert; they married in 1972 and enjoyed 51 wonderful years together. Pauline enjoyed travelling, sewing, live theater, gardening and photography. She was proud of her “Cajun” heritage and was always open to new adventures and thoroughly enjoyed life.

In addition to Bob, Pauline leaves behind her brothers, Wallace Callahan (Kathleen), Kenneth Callahan and Wayne Callahan (Marlene), all of Thibodaux, Louisiana and David Callahan (Pamela) of North Carolina; her brother-in-law, James Philip Edwards (Robbin) of Snellville, Georgia, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Patricia Callahan.

A visitation will be held in her honor on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 9:00 AM until service time at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. A reception will follow in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Charity of your choice in her honor.
