Obituary for Lynwood Joseph Guillot

Lynwood Joseph Guillot, 80, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, January 8, 2021 after a long illness. Born January 31, 1940, he was a native of St. John Community and resident of St. Charles Community.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Ordoyne Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. A burial will follow at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Cemetery. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, masks are required and social distancing should be practiced.

He is survived by his loving, caring and devoted wife, Rosie Gautreaux Guillot; son, James Guillot and wife Stephanie; grandchildren, Brad Guillot, Jamie Guillot; great grandchild, Abigail Guillot; sister in law, Barbara Gautreaux; brother in law, Mike Brien; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Guillot, Sr. and Anise Naquin Guillot; brother, Joseph Guillot, Jr.; sister, Lindsey Ann Bergeron; sister in law, Norma Solar; brothers in law, Thomas Bergeron and Donald Benoit; nephews, Dale Benoit, Rocky Solar; great nephews, Travis Bergeron and Trevis Dantin; father and mother in law, Irving Gautreaux and Hilda Pellegrin.

Lynwood was a 1959 Thibodaux High Graduate. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served 3 years active duty and 3 years non-active duty. He was a member of the American Legion, F. Lefort Post 11. Following his military service he entered into aluminum shipbuilding, until his retirement in 2006.

Lynwood enjoyed fishing and hunting and watching LSU and Saints football and wrestling on his TV. His greatest joy in life was his family; wife, Rosie, son, James and wife Stephanie, grandchildren, Brad and Jamie and was proud of what they accomplished in life. His newest treasure, who brought him so much joy is his great granddaughter, Abigail.

The family would like to send their heartfelt thanks to all of his doctors, nurses and caregivers throughout the years. They would also like to thank Heart of Hospice and Divinity Healthcare with special thanks to John Gauthier.
