Lois Joseph Matherne, 92, died Friday, May 27, 2022 at 3:38 AM. Born October 26, 1929 he was a native of St. James, Louisiana and resident of Vacherie, Louisiana.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 9:00 AM until service time at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM at the church with burial following in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Becnel Matherne; daughters, Vanessa Becnel (Curtis), Debbie Poche' (Jerome); son, Michael Matherne; grandchildren, Kasey Matherne, Dave Poche', Josh Becnel (Ashley), Rory Poche' (Jessica), Laura Matherne, Michelle Faucheux (Brent) and a host of great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andre' and Ruth Hymel Matherne; brother, Andre' Matherne; sisters, Bessie Matherne Waguespack, Florence Matherne Dufresne, Loretta Matherne Kreamer, Hazel Matherne Gautreaux.

Lois was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved to cook.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warriors Project.
