Gary Leon McNeal Sr., 78, died Thursday, February 07, 2019, at 3:58 AM. Born October 24, 1940, he was a native of Crossville, TN and longtime resident of Thibodaux, LA.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 9:30 AM until service time at Christ the Redeemer. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 18 years, Priscilla Benoit McNeal; daughters, Elizabeth "Beth" (Eddie) Thibodaux, Monica (Brent) Tauzin; daughter in law, Donna B. McNeal; step daughter, Chrystal (Brandon) Dupree; grandchildren, Corey (Cherish) Thibodaux, Kacie (Jeremy) Percle, Chaz (Carlie) Thibodaux, Lukas and Owen Tauzin, Jacee and Jayden Dupree; great grandchildren, Camille and Connor Thibodaux, Gage and Graham Percle; sisters, Myrna McNeal (Larry) Lee, Katherine Alexander; mother in law, Henrietta P. Benoit; sister in law, Cathy (Russell) Billiot and their son Steven; first wife, Betty Mire McNeal.
He is preceded in death by his son, Gary "Bubba" McNeal, Jr.; grandson, Gary "Lee" McNeal, III; parents, Vester L. McNeal and Kathryn Peace Smith McNeal; brothers, Arthur "Buzz" McNeal, Vester L. McNeal, Jr.; father in law, Alvin J. Benoit; father and mother in law, Alcide and Enola Mire, Jr.
He served in the United States Air Force and retired from Delta Music, Inc in 2015.
Gary loved his wife "The Love of His Life", his family and his special friends dearly. He was an avid golfer, loved cutting his grass and walking through his neighborhood. He will be missed for his witty sense of humor and loving ways.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ms. Evelyn Robertson for the exceptional care, patience and compassion that was given to Gary during this very difficult time. They would also like to thank the staff of St. Joseph Hospice, especially Ms. Julia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
