Obituary for Decatur “Dickie” Callais
Decatur “Dickie” Thomas Callais, 70, died Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 8:14 PM. Born June 29, 1951, he was a lifelong resident of Lafourche Parish, Louisiana.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 8:00 AM until service time at Saint Joseph Co-Cathedral. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Debrah Reding Callais; daughters, Cyd Callais and Lauren C. Hebert (Rene); grandchildren, Brooklyn Angelette, Dustin and Seth Hebert, Jaxon Decatur Hebert and Kathryn Hebert; brother, James P. Callais (Arlene); sister, Anna Barrios (Corbert).
He is preceded in death by his father, Evan Callais; mother, Anna Callais; father, Thomas McGinn; siblings, Barbara McGinn, Evan Callais, Jr., Terrence Callais, Gary Callais, Sr., Gayle Brister.
He was very active in his community, coaching Biddy basketball and chaired the Holy Rosary Fair for 3 years. He also served on the Holy Rosary School Board. He never met a stranger and loved his girls.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the MacDonell Children’s Home in Houma, LA.
