Curtis "Lightnin" Collom, 86, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 5:40 AM. Born August 30, 1934 he was a native of Georgetown, Illinois and resident of Schriever, Louisiana.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 5:00 PM until service time at Ordoyne Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will begin at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
He is survived by his son, Michael A. Collom and wife, Dawn; daughters, Terry Collom Foret and husband Danny, Kelly D. Collom, Leslie D. Collom and husband Marty Chaisson; grandchildren, Jennifer F. Stephens,, Jake T. Foret, Justin M. Poiencot, Austin T. Poiencot, Cameron Collom-Roberts, Philip A. Collom, Robin C. Brown, Edward A. Collom; great grandchildren, Reece, Jaxon, Lane, Allyson, Levi, Case, Andrew, Kohen, Wyatt, Lee, Emslee, Evelyn, half sisters, Alaina Marie Collom and Patsy Ann Green.
He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Alan Collom; mother, Norma Lamar Warrick; stepfather, Harry Warrick; brothers, Larry Collom and Stanley Collom and former wife and friend, Karla Billgren Collom.
Curtis, better known as "Lightnin", migrated to Louisiana from Illinois to work in the oilfield. He began work in wireline and then became a snubbing hand for Hydraulic Workover, Inc (HWI) which later became Hydraulic Well Control (HWC). In the relatively new industry of hydraulic snubbing, he became a supervisor, spending 40 years in the industry teaching many men the business.
He loved fishing and golf, thrift store shopping and his toy poodle, Charlie 2. He enjoyed tinkering in mechanics with his best friend, Dave Morris.
