Obituary for Bernadette Savoie Labat
Bernadette Savoie Labat, a native of Thibodaux and a resident of Vacherie, Louisiana, was born on September 10, 1948, and passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at age 73.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 8:30 AM until service time at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM at the church with burial following in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her son Troy Labat and his spouse Joy; their son Brent; daughter Adelyne and her fiance Blaise; daughter Claire, her fiance Jacob and his children Owen and Ellie; son, Bernard Labat and his spouse Simone; their sons André and Caden; sisters Nora Abel, Sara Hebert, Laverne Deroche, Susie White, and Mary Bergeron; and brother Leo Savoie.
She is preceded in death by her loving spouse of 25 years Brent Labat, her parents Raymond and Elfie Ledet Savoie, and brother Earl.
She was a friendly, familiar face within her community of South Vacherie, serving as a teller for First American Bank for 21 years. When not working, her strong Catholic faith led her to be heavily involved in Our Lady of Peace Church parish, serving as a religion instructor, the Ladies Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters, Vacation Bible School, as a collection counter, or making her hour of prayer in its adoration chapel.
